Product Description
This Traditional Handmade Manipuri Longpi Black Clay Serpentine Stone Pottery is a unique cookware piece crafted by the Tangkhul artisans of Manipur. Made from a blend of serpentine stone and natural brown clay, it is shaped entirely by hand without the use of a potter's wheel. This traditional method gives each pot a distinct character and a strong, durable structure suited for daily cooking.
The pot is sun dried, fired in an open bonfire, and polished using natural leaves to achieve its signature matte black finish. Its unglazed and chemical free surface makes it a reliable option for safe cooking. The material allows slow and even heat distribution, helping retain nutrients and enhance the natural taste of food.
Commonly known as handi or patila in Indian kitchens, this pot is ideal for preparing rice, biryani, curries, and other traditional dishes. It works well on gas stoves and brings an authentic rustic touch while delivering practical performance in everyday use.
